Thanks to your generosity, and the generosity of the James Gill Memorial Trust, TUHF was able to support the refurbishment of new Oncology Day Unit The new unit has a much larger footprint, a 50% increase in space for patients and staff with more single rooms, bathrooms and meeting spaces .
The previous unit had insufficient space and lacked privacy. Nurses had to manoeuvre between patients to administer treatments or have conversations with families without sufficient privacy given the open plan nature of the unit.
This refurbishment has created a modern welcoming space in the Hospital, which allows for privacy and gives oncology patients the environment they deserve at a time when they are most vulnerable.

Thanks to your generosity and commitment, we can reflect the standard of our patient care with modern bright and facilities that offer comfort and the best possible experience when receiving treatment.
Thanks to our generous donors, TUHF has delivered a surgical robotic programme known as da Vinci Surgical System for the benefit of TUH and its patients that brings TUH in line with leading hospitals internationally.
Thanks to donors, TUH will now be able to offer an alternative option to open surgery and perform complex minimally invasive surgical procedures with precision and accuracy to over 200 patients annually, making a significant difference on how TUH will deliver excellent patient care.

The Hospital's wards are always busy, and medical teams often need access to clinical areas and workstations at the same time. With social distancing, this has become increasingly difficult to manage as staff can no longer congregate in one area. To combat this problem and comply with the HSE guidelines, the Hospital has bought mobile workstations which will now help provide easy access to ICT systems anywhere on the ward, protecting staff and patients and reducing the risk of infection. A massive thank you for your support. By helping our staff stay safe, you are giving them the chance to do their jobs with far less stress and concern. And by adding a layer of protection through mobile workstations, you can help to ensure the wellbeing of patients in every area of the Hospital.
Support from our donors, coupled with a generous donation from the Community Foundation, has enabled us to establish 15 Rest & Reconnect rooms around the hospital to help our staff to focus on their health and wellbeing. These are new spaces that allow staff to switch off, get some time to quieten their minds and breathe – even for just a little while.
The Rest & Reconnect Rooms are already providing much-needed respite to many of our medical teams.
Due to restrictions, it isn’t always possible for our patients to see their loved ones while they’re in the hospital. However, as a result of our recent appeal, and through a generous donation from Apple, each ward is now equipped with an encased iPad to bring the hospital’s patients and their families and friends together.
These iPads have replaced in-person visiting and also make it possible for a family member to be present during some consultations.
Cocooning measures, combined with the need to reduce footfall at the hospital, saw many at risk people not attending the hospital last year. As these measures remain in place. We have, with your help, been in a position to support the hospital deliver virtual consultations so that the out-patients who are unable to visit in person can still have their appointments from home via video conference.
